“My graphite pencil portraits draw attention to the negative space and light surrounding the subject which is so often discarded; this space is important to help the subject breathe and ultimately draws the eye to the detail in the portrait rather than the overall sometimes complicated composition. I pay close attention to the finer details in my work, construction, form and texture, being able to perfectly describe a subject with a pencil line; that’s truly where my passion lies.” Casey Allum.
