Sophie Coe

I have been a designer and artist all my life, with a love of the outdoors and a curiosity about the world. After studying fine art, graphic design and architecture, I worked as an architect in the UK, Asia and Australia, before settling in London. I loved travel and particularly living somewhere long enough to get a sense of it. In Hong Kong I worked for Norman Foster on the airport buildings, and in India for the Indian National Trust and Cultural Heritage. In Australia I co-founded an architecture practice in Byron Bay, where we designed private homes for so many clients, such a beautiful place to live. You can see a few images from my time as an architect here. Alongside a successful career in architecture, fine art remained a passion that over the years grew to take over as a full-time occupation.

I work with various drawing, painting and printmaking techniques to create images largely inspired by nature. The freedom in my mark-making gives immediacy and energy to my work, which itself exudes a simple calmness and beauty. Having a background in architecture gives me an in-depth understanding of buildings, interiors, client/designer relationships and collaborative design. My work sells worldwide for both private collections and commercial interiors.
